Accused priest arrested for conversion attempt under guise of feast in Guna !

Guna (Madhya Pradesh) – An incident of attempted religious conversion has come to light in Guna, where Hindus were allegedly being persuaded to convert to Christianity under the guise of a non-vegetarian banquet. The Police have arrested the main accused priest Uttam Barela. (How does a priest have a Hindu name ? Please note that converted Christians use Hindu names in attempts to convert other Hindus. – Editor). Action was taken against those organising a ‘Changai Sabha’ (a prayer meeting where priests claim to cure the sick through prayer) as a front for conversion. The other accused, priest Vikas Barela, is absconding and is being searched for.

1. On 5 April 2026, in Mohanpur Khurd village, 2 goats and 40 chickens were slaughtered, and a banquet for 300 to 400 people was arranged. People were invited under the name of a ‘Changai Sabha’. During the gathering, attendees were told that both illnesses and addictions could be cured through prayer.

2. Many villagers stated that they were invited as they had not found relief through hospitals or traditional treatments. According to locals, such gatherings linked to missionaries were held every Sunday and were referred to as ‘change of heart’. After a video of the meeting held on Easter was circulated, the individuals involved disappeared.

Editorial Perspective

As there is no strict anti-conversion law, Christian missionaries converted Hindus during Congress rule and continue to do so even today.
