Action also taken against ‘Indian Secular Front’ candidate who incited the mob

In this case, Indian Secular Front candidate Shahjahan Ali Qadri has also been arrested for inciting the mob. The Indian Secular Front has termed his arrest completely illegal and claimed that the state government has conspired to prevent him from filing his nomination.

Editorial Perspective

  • Although the advocate’s surname indicates his religion, it is surprising that no maulvi (Islamic religious leader) or maulana (Islamic scholar) has issued any fatwa (decree) against him for bringing disrepute to Islam.
  • With this arrest, people should realise who is often at the forefront of inciting mobs and getting them to carry out anti-social acts in the country.
