Sunrays Illuminate Shriram Lalla’s Face for Nine Minutes

  • ‘Suryatilak’ Ceremony of Shriram Lalla

  • Ten lakh devotees witness the phenomenon

Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) – On 27.03.2026, at the auspicious time of 12.00 noon, the ‘Suryatilak’ ceremony of Shriram Lalla took place in Ayodhya. It was the second such ceremony after the consecration of the idol at Ayodhya. The sunlight illuminated the face of Shriram for nine minutes in the presence of ten lakh devotees.

Scientists from the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, and the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) have developed a complex system involving 65 ft long tube made of eight metals (Ashta-dhaatu) and four lenses and four mirrors to bring the sunlight from the third floor to the sanctum sanctorum to reach the sunrays on the forehead of Shriram Lalla. A special prayer was made by fourteen priests present in the sanctum sanctorum at that time, followed by the recitation of a special ‘Aarti’ of Shriram Lalla.

Extension in ‘Darshan’ timings

The temple was decorated with flowers on the occasion of Shriram Navami. From this day, the timing of Shriram Lalla’s ‘Darshan’ has been changed to 5.00 a.m. to 11.00 p.m. instead of the earlier timing of 6.30 a.m. to 9.30 p.m.
