Talibani Fatwa in Laxmanpuri (Uttar Pradesh)
|

Laxmanpuri (UP) – The Imambara administration has decided that women will now be allowed to enter the historic Imambara here, only after covering their heads, i.e. wearing hijab, otherwise they will be denied entry. It has reasoned that ‘This is a religious place and Islam must be observed here,’ On the other hand, Muslim and Hindu women say that it is understandable to cover one’s head while going to the mosque; But there are many places in the Imambara outside the mosque, which attract a large number of tourists. This is a violation of our ‘right to freedom’.
Taliban-Like Rules at Lakshmanpuri Imambara?
Even non-Muslim women were asked to wear a hijab at the Imambara in Lucknow, and visitors were allegedly told to step on US 🇺🇸 and Israel 🇮🇱 flags.
Is imposing such a “Fatwa-style” rule acceptable in India? This is neither Pakistan… pic.twitter.com/FxLQOFIb2m

1. After many years of demand from some Muslim organisation called ‘Hussaini Tigers’, H.P. Shahi, Secretary and Additional Collector (West) of the ‘Hussainabad Trust’, gave permission
for this.
2. The Deputy Collector says that since the Bada Imambara is a religious place of the Shia community, it has been made mandatory for women to cover their heads as per their demand.
3. Visitors coming here will be provided with a veil to cover their heads.
4. Shia Maulana Kalbe Jawwad has defended this decision. He said that every religious place has its own set of rules. We have every right to stop entry without hijab. Since it is a religious place, entry will not be allowed without a head covering.
Bitter experience of Hindu girls !
It has been alleged that some Hindu girls who went to see the Imambara were asked to kick the posters reading ‘Death to America and Israel’ there. They were not allowed entry untill they wore hijab.
Many women’s organizations objected to this decision, saying that Imambara is not only a religious place but also a tourist place. Apart from the mosque, there are many things to see here.
Renu Mishra, an activist, said that the state government or the High Court should intervene and stop this decision. Such decisions take women back to medieval times and the Constitution does not permit it.
