Let us make auspicious resolutions on Gudhi Padwa !

Gudhi Padwa marks the Hindu New Year day. On this auspicious day, resolutions are made for the year. Resolutions made according to one’s constitution on this sacred occasion certainly bear fruit due to the indigenous Divine Energy of the day. Let us make a few meaningful resolutions and obtain the associated benefits.

Mr Yadnesh Sawant

1. Conducting all the transactions in the mother tongue : Sanskrut is the spiritually most pure language, followed by Marathi and Hindi. Yet, even while speaking in our mother tongue, excessive English words are used. Let us resolve to speak the pure form of the mother tongue with pride.

2. Avoid wasting excessive time on mobile phones : In India, the younger generation and others who use mobile phones are wasting on average more than 5 hours per day handling their phones. By spending so much time, watching unnecessary videos on social media and YouTube, the resulting mental restlessness and irritability also affect one’s work and daily routine. Let us resolve to avoid the unnecessary use of mobile phones.

3. Performing Yogasanas / exercise : Many institutions provide training in Yogasanas and exercise and conduct regular practice sessions. By attending these and performing Yogasanas and exercise in a group, one develops the habit, and the mind is imbued with the sanskar (Subconscious impression) of regularity. To remain healthy, for youth to study well, and to participate in programmes related to the Nation & Dharma, one must develop a strong and well-built physique.

4. Activities that nurture courage and valour : We are fortunate to live in the land which has hundreds of forts associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of Hindavi Swarajya. By visiting these forts and understanding their history, we can gain insight into that glorious past. Through this, we come to truly recognise the qualities of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

5. Firefighting and emergency training : Firefighting and emergency training are provided by the Government and by some organisations. By learning some of these techniques, one can use them to control incidents of fire at home or in the surrounding area. Fire extinguishers are easily available in some homes, offices, colleges, schools, etc.; however, very few people actually know how to use them.

6. Obtaining knowledge of First-aid : In today’s fast-paced life, many people do not even find time to rest. Due to the present lifestyle, food habits, etc., the younger generation is getting adversely affected at a very early age. While exercising in a gym, playing, studying, or traveling, incidents such as dizziness or heart attacks have occurred, and some have even lost their lives. It is evident that even though many people were present nearby when a person experienced such physical distress, they were helpless. If some First-aid techniques are learnt for such situations, assistance can be provided to the concerned patient. Youth should learn First-aid.

7. Joining a spiritual / religious organisation : Among all forms of strength – physical, mental, spiritual, etc. spiritual strength is most powerful. With its support, we can successfully accomplish many constructive tasks. The primary objective of Indian culture is to develop virtues in people and to eradicate defects & ego, thus transforming them into a Divine form. As a result, the individuals progress steadily in an all-round manner. This is true personality development. One who is endowed with spiritual strength can take initiative and guide many within the family, workplace, and society. Such individuals become capable of guiding society and the Nation. The Gurukul system of education took into account the spiritual dimension; however, after it was eliminated, the need to reintroduce it has arisen. One can participate in the functioning of spiritual organisations in one’s area.

8. Participation in the work of Mandals : Shri Ganesh and Navaratri festival Mandals function actively. They require volunteers to organise festivals. By understanding their functioning, one can obtain the true benefit of festivals, get an opportunity to perform satseva, and imbibe many qualities and skills. Instead of merely forming groups on social media platforms such as Facebook and WhatsApp and exchanging information there, it is always better to come together physically wherever possible.

9. Paying attention to Government appeals : During adverse times, the Government appeals for blood donation or manpower. By paying attention to such appeals and participating wherever possible, one gets experience and also the satisfaction of having done something for society.

Such a list can become quite extensive. If Hindus resolve, they can develop themselves in many ways. Even if some of these actions are implemented, they will gain direction in life. By utilising valuable time in learning such things apart from education, job, and occupation, etc., they will get inner satisfaction.
