₹44 crore worth of cannabis seized at Mumbai airport : 9 arrested !

Narcotics found with passengers arriving from Thailand

Mumbai – The Customs Department seized 44.292 kg of hydroponic weed (a type of cannabis) at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. Its estimated illegal market value is ₹44.29 crore. The narcotics were found with 9 passengers who had arrived from Bangkok in Thailand. All of them have been arrested.

During the operation, 299 grams of the narcotic substance methaqualone was also seized. Its market value is ₹74 lakh 75 thousand. Indian and foreign currency worth ₹32 lakh 85 thousand, diamonds weighing 455 carats worth ₹94 lakh 97 thousand, 21-carat gold ornaments worth ₹21 lakh 51 thousand and other precious gemstones weighing 1,203.69 carats worth ₹15 lakh 16 thousand were also seized.
