Student alleges rape by ticket examiner on train

Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) – A female student has alleged that she was raped by a railway ticket examiner on the Ahmedabad–Gorakhpur Express.

The girl, who was preparing for army recruitment, stated: “I had gone to Mau to appear for an ‘NCC’ certificate examination. While returning, due to heavy crowding, I could not purchase a ticket and boarded the AC coach. I was standing inside the coach when the ticket examiner arrived. On the pretext of arranging a seat for me, he took me into a cabin and raped me there. He threatened that if I told anyone, he would initiate action against me for travelling without a ticket.”

After the incident, the girl informed the authorities by calling the emergency helpline number 112. By then, the ticket examiner had deboarded the train at Deoria and fled. Upon reaching Gorakhpur, the girl lodged a rape complaint at the railway police station.
