Brahmin woman journalist assaulted by Communist and backward-class activists at Delhi University

Incident during protest in support of University Grants Commission’s new regulations

Journalist Ruchi Tiwari

New Delhi – On 13 February, during a protest held in support of the University Grants Commission in the North Campus of Delhi University, a woman journalist was allegedly attacked by members of the crowd. It is alleged that she was targeted because she is a Brahmin.

Ruchi Tiwari, a journalist associated with the YouTube channel ‘Breaking Opinion,’ had reached the Arts Faculty premises of the University to cover the protest. Protesters affiliated with Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Class groups, along with Communist student organisations, allegedly surrounded and assaulted her.

The protest had been organised by Communist student bodies including the ‘Bharatiya Vidyarthi Mahasangh,’ the ‘Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sanghatana,’ and the ‘All India Forum for Equity.’ They were demanding implementation of the 2026 University Grants Commission regulations aimed at promoting equity in higher education institutions. The Supreme Court has currently stayed these regulations.

Editorial Perspective

While claiming to eradicate casteism from the country, they indulge in violence based on caste. This incident exposes the mindset of Communist and so-called backward-class activists.
