India’s currency should feature images of other great personalities besides Gandhi: Renowned Author and Professor Dr Anand Ranganathan

Renowned author and professor Dr Anand Ranganathan appeals to Prime Minister Modi

New Delhi – Renowned author and thinker Professor Dr Anand Ranganathan has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, through a post on X, that Indian currency should carry images of great personalities other than Mohandas Gandhi.

Dr Ranganathan stated, ‘Every nation prints images of its great personalities on its currency. British currency features images of Darwin (biologist), Austen and Dickens (writers), and Faraday (physicist); however, Indian currency carries only the image of M. Gandhi. This stubbornness is difficult to understand. India too has produced many great personalities. We demand others – C. V. Raman (scientist), Ramdhari Singh Dinkar (poet), Ramanujan (mathematician), Jagadish Chandra Bose (scientist), Swami Vivekananda, and Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam (scientist)’.

Editorial Perspective

This is not just Dr Ranganathan’s demand, but the demand of every patriotic Indian.
