“When You Go to a Mall in Dallas, It Feels Like You’re in Pakistan”

Statement by Republican Congressman Brandon Gill from Texas, USA

Texas (USA) — Controversy has erupted after Republican Congressman Brandon Gill from the US state of Texas made a remark about the changing cultural identity of Dallas. He said that many residents in his constituency are worried about this change, adding that when one goes to a local mall, it feels as if one is no longer in Dallas but in Pakistan. Several people have criticised the statement, calling it hateful and directed against the Muslim community and immigrants.

In an interview given to ‘Real America’s Voice’, Gill said that for decades, a large number of mosques have been built around lands owned by local families.

In a post on ‘X’, Gill stated that large-scale Islamic immigration is destroying the America he knew and loved.

Controversy Over Wife’s Background The controversy intensified further because Brandon Gill’s wife, Danielle D’Souza Gill, is of Indian origin. Danielle is the daughter of well-known Indian-American author and Trump supporter Dinesh D’Souza. Several users linked Gill’s remark about Pakistan to his wife’s Indian background. Some accused him of using historical hostility between India and Pakistan for political rhetoric.

On social media, one user sarcastically commented that Gill has become so accustomed to living in New Delhi that hating Pakistan has become a part of his nature. Many others described his statement as racist and divisive, alleging that it promotes social discord.
