Guwahati (Assam) – Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that as much as 912 acres of land has been encroachment freed in Hailakandi district. We reaffirm our commitment to reclaim every inch of our land from encroachers. We shall not allow encroachment of even an inch of land in the State. He clarified that forest land and government land which have been encroached for many years has now been cleared of it.

These operations will continue
From 2021 thousands of acres of encroached land has been freed in Assam to preserve the cultural identity; these operations will continue. This was clarified by the Government. According to the Chief Minister unchecked illegal encroachments have altered population patterns and threatened the rights of indigenous communities in the State. Asserting that reclaiming these land was vital not only for law and order but also for cultural preservation.
