New Delhi – The University Grants Commission (UGC) has implemented new rules in the country. These rules aim to eliminate discrimination in colleges and universities and provide equal opportunities to all students; however, the nation is not in favour. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the BJP, also expressed its opinion on this. ABVP said that clarity and balance were needed in those rules. The UGC and all educational institutions should implement democratic principles, where every citizen enjoys equal rights so that India becomes discrimination-free and equal.

ABVP further said that the UGC should take immediate note of the ambiguity and confusion created among the community, students and parents regarding some of the provisions and definitions in the UGC’s Equality Rules and take immediate action to avoid any divisive situation. It is worth noting that this matter is currently pending in a court. Therefore ABVP believes that the UGC should file an affidavit in court soon and clarify its position in this regard.
