Maharashtra Waqf Board Submits Audit Report of 16 years from 2002

  • Action taken after Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad’s complaint

  • Supposed to submit remaining years reports too

  • Is Waqf Board the blue-eyed boy of the Government ? – Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad

Mumbai, 29 January – Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad (HVP) lodged a complaint about maintenance of accounts by Maharashtra Waqf Board (MWB) after which it has submitted audited reports for 16 years from 2002 to 2018. Advocate Virendra Ichalkaranjikar, the national president of HVP had lodged a complaint with the State minority welfare department in March 2025 and followed up the matter demanding action. As a result, the minority welfare department ordered MWB to submit all pending audit reports. (What is the use of giving just instructions ? It is necessary to take action against MWB. Why don’t Muslim brethren demand action against such doubtful activities of MWB which was set up for their welfare ? – Editor)

1. It is mandatory for every Government committee or board to submit audited reports every year.

2. In 1995, the Waqf Law came into effect. It was, therefore, required of them to submit such  report every year since then. HVP realised that it was not happening and brought it to the notice of the State Government by filing a complaint against MWB.

3. Advocate Virendra Ichalkaranjikar has now received information under RTI Act from MWB of their submitting the audited reports for 16 years from 2002 to 2018.

Reports  of temples are published on their websites but Waqf Board doesn’t submit reports year after year – HVP

On one hand, the audit reports of the temples managed by the Government are published on their websites every year such as Shri Siddhivinayak Mandir , Prabhadevi (Mumbai), Pashchim Maharashtra Devasthan Vyavasthapan Samiti, Kolhapur managing more than 3,000 temples, etc. On the other hand, the Waqf Board doesn’t submit report to even the Government. How will Muslims or other citizens know the kind of activities carried out by the Board ? Is the Waqf Board, the blue-eyed boy of the Government ?

Editorial Perspective

Is it right to submit audit report after 20 years ? Will it be wrong if one doubts that activities of Maharashtra Waqf Board are a total fraud ? Is there any logical answer to such suspicion ?
