Death of innocent Sameer Gaikwad, falsely implicated in the Pansare murder case

Sameer’s death is nothing but a sacrifice taken by the system, says Sanatan Sanstha

Mumbai – Sanatan Sanstha seeker Sameer Gaikwad, aged 43 years, passed away tragically on 20 January. We pray that Bhagwan grants his soul sadgati. Sameer was falsely arrested in 2015 in the murder case of Comrade Govind Pansare. Investigation agencies claimed that two assailants arrived on a motorcycle and carried out the murder, and that one of them was Sameer Gaikwad. A school-going boy was presented as an eyewitness; however, within a year, it was declared that the two killers were entirely different individuals. This itself establishes that Sameer Gaikwad was innocent.

Even while in prison, he was subjected to severe hardship. He was incarcerated for 19 months. After his release on bail, the mental pressure on him and his family remained immense due to being trapped in a crime he had not committed. The stigma created by the media branding him as an ‘accused in the Pansare murder case’ was so severe that he faced difficulties everywhere, including in business and employment. This innocent seeker from an ordinary farmer’s family saw his life destroyed due to harassment by investigation agencies and defamation by pseudo-progressives. Democracy and individual liberty were trampled upon to such an extent that Sameer Gaikwad was not even allowed access to a lawyer from Kolhapur.

He had to endure many such excesses by the system. Tragically, he has now passed away. This is not merely a death, but a sacrifice taken by the system itself, stated Sanatan Sanstha spokesperson Shri Chetan Rajhans.

Shri Chetan Rajhans said

1. When Sameer Gaikwad was arrested, during the investigation, the Police had found that on the day of Pansare’s murder, Sameer Gaikwad was in Palghar. However, due to pressure, this fact was not placed before the Court. Sameer Gaikwad could have presented this during his defence, but perhaps that opportunity is now lost.

2. Even today, he continues to be listed as Accused No 1 in the case. However, after Sameer was granted bail, the Police presented a new theory and declared that Pansare was murdered by Sarang Akolkar and Vinay Pawar.

3. A few months later, two new names were again brought forward. Sameer became an innocent victim of this flawed investigation. Did the Police commit the sin of implicating Sanatan Sanstha seekers under pressure from pseudo-progressives.

4. The Sanatan family stands with the Gaikwad family in their grief. During interactions with the family, it became clear that the stress of being falsely implicated weighed constantly on Sameer’s mind. His public life was destroyed. Being branded a murder accused meant he could not secure employment. Who will compensate for all this. A terrorist like Ajmal Kasab is provided a lawyer at Government expense. Even at 1 am, the doors of the Supreme Court of India are opened for those sentenced to death. However, because Sameer was a Hindu, a Sanatan Sanstha seeker, and the son of a poor farmer, he was not even allowed access to a lawyer. The Government approached the High Court to cancel his bail. Under whose pressure did the Police submit contradictory evidence before the Court.

5. Due to ideological terrorism by pseudo-progressives, pressure was exerted on the Government, and ultimately, a life was sacrificed. This is a matter of deep sorrow for us.

6. After the death of Stan Swamy, an accused in the Koregaon Bhima case, judges of a division bench of the Bombay High Court expressed condolences. The United Nations issued a condolence statement. Will anyone stand up for Sameer Gaikwad. This question must also be asked.

After suffering a heart attack, Shri Sameer Gaikwad was admitted for treatment at a Government hospital in Sangli, where he passed away during treatment. He is survived by his mother, wife Harshada, one son, one daughter, two brothers, and two maternal aunts, Sanatan seekers Ms Sangeeta Jadhav and Ms Savita Jadhav. The Sanatan family offers prayers at the feet of Bhagwan Shri Krishna, seeking sadgati for the departed soul of Sameer Gaikwad.
