Nagpur, Maharashtra – The elections in Nagpur has turned violent ahead of the municipal corporation polls. In Prabhag 11, BJP’s sitting corporator and candidate Bhushan Shingne was attacked while heading towards the Gorewada area in the early hours of Thursday.

Shingne was travelling in a car with his close aides, Praveen Mate and Rupesh Thakur. A group of three to four people, allegedly led by Ganesh Chacherkar, stopped the vehicle. They questioned Shingne about his presence in the area, pulled him out of the car and assaulted him. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Bhushan Shingne and inquired about his condition.

After meeting the injured candidate Bhushan Shingne, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said : “Our party will not be intimidated by any kind of terror. It is the general opinion that despite prior warnings, the Police did not take appropriate action and this will also be investigated. Even after a complaint was filed, the incident was not treated with the seriousness it deserved. I am taking this matter very seriously. Therefore, no criminal will escape. No form of terror will be tolerated. The Police will take strict action against them.”
