Kolkata (Bengal) – On the morning of 8 January, the Enforcement Directorate conducted raids at 15 locations across the country, including the Kolkata office of election strategist firm ‘I-PAC’, headed by Prateek Jain. Jain is also the head of the Trinamool Congress information technology department. As soon as she learnt about the raid, an agitated Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee rushed to the raided premises and allegedly took several files and kept them in her own vehicle.

Mamata Banerjee accused the Union Government of crushing democracy. She said that the Union Government was trying to intimidate the Opposition by misusing investigating agencies. “This is an attempt to strangle democracy. The Union Home Ministry and investigating agencies have forgotten their responsibility towards the nation. I had prior information about such action. Therefore, all important party-related data and hard disks were already secured. We will not be afraid of this political conspiracy,” she said.

This action has been taken in connection with the fake government job appointment letter scam, as well as the coal scam-related money laundering case.
