New Delhi – On the night of January 6th, while the Delhi Municipal Corporation was carrying out an anti-encroachment drive near the Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque, rumours were spread that the mosque was being demolished. Following this, a stone-pelting attack was carried out on police personnel. In connection with this incident, the police will now question Samajwadi Party MP Mohibullah Nadvi.

Despite being driven away by the police during the incident, Nadvi allegedly continued to remain and wander around the vicinity of the site, which has placed him under suspicion. In this stone-pelting case, police have examined CCTV footage and identified 30 individuals. Multiple police teams have been deployed across different areas to trace and arrest the accused.

Editorial Perspective

It has been seen in several past incidents that Muslim leaders often have direct or indirect involvement in such acts of violence. Therefore, it should not come as a surprise if Nadvi’s role in this violence is eventually exposed !

  • “Every action will naturally invite a reaction”

  • Arrogant Reaction by Samajwadi Party leader S. T. Hasan!

Leader of the Samajwadi Party S.T. Hasan

While defending the stone-pelting incident, Samajwadi Party leader S. T. Hasan stated that a mosque and shops that are over 100 years old exist at the site. He questioned how long people could be expected to remain silent if oppression is carried out in the name of removing encroachments.

He further claimed that had such action been taken uniformly everywhere, people might have exercised restraint. Since such matters are closely linked to people’s emotions and religious faith, he said, any action against religious places is bound to provoke a reaction. According to him, oppression is being carried out under the pretext of removing encroachments, and if encroachments have indeed occurred, action should instead be taken against the responsible officials.

Those who openly justify violence in this manner should also be sent to jail !
