Warden Suresh PV

Bengaluru (Karnataka) – In a private engineering college viz. AMC on Bannerghatta Road, warden Suresh PV (age-48 years) was arrested for forcing students to speak in Hindi. He has been working as a warden in the boys’ hostel for the last three years.

1. Suresh had banned speaking in any language other than Hindi in the hostel; therefore, students objected. On questioning by the students, he said that they would have to speak in Hindi in the hostel and they should go home if they wanted to speak in Kannada. The students, however, argued that it was their right to converse with each other in their mother tongue; but Suresh asserted that he would decide whether they should speak in Kannada or in Hindi.

2. A video of this conversation was made viral on social media when Kannada activists demanded action against him. Mahesh Hatti lodged a complaint against Suresh with Bannerghatta  Police station and Suresh was arrested. At the same time, the college also dismissed him from service.
