Param Pujya Kadsiddheshwar Swamiji, Head of the Siddhagiri Muth in Kolhapur, warns

Vijayapura (Karnataka) – “Some people are misinterpreting the words of Mahatma Basaveshwara. All the Saints, including the Basava, were Hindus only. At the end of their teachings, i.e. in what is called ‘Ankitnaam’, they have mentioned their family Deities and village Deities. All these Deities are worshipped in Hindu Dharma, which proves that they were Hindus. In this regard, I am ready to make a public statement and if anyone tries to create a division in Hindu Dharma, remember; I stand like the Himalayas,” warned the Head of Siddhagiri Muth in Kolhapur, Param Pujya Kadsiddheshwar Swamiji.

Saints and dignitaries present at the conference

After the politically motivated entry ban in Vijayapura, Karnataka was lifted, a huge public ‘Basavadi Sharan Hindu Sammelan’ was organized at Babeleswar, Vijayapura. He was speaking at the time. Many Saints, Mahatmas, and the Heads of muths from the Basava tradition in Karnataka were present in large numbers.

1. Some people are spreading the wrong idea that ‘Basaveshwara was against temples, idol worship, Vedas and Upanishads by mentioning some verses of Mahatma Basaveshwara. Many verses composed by Mahatma Basaveshwara praise and support the Deities of Hindu Dharma. Many of his verses contain references to verses from Vedas and Upanishads, which is not mentioned by the anti-Hindu people.

Flowers showered on Swamiji

On this occasion, a grand procession was taken out to welcome Swamiji, from the main square at Babeleshwar to the venue, in the presence of thousands of men and women. Thousands of women carrying kalash participated in this. Flowers were showered on the procession and Swamiji at many places.

2. It is also being spread that ‘Mahatma Basaveshwara does not believe in reincarnation and the law of karma’; but many of Basaveshwara’s verses have mentioned the reincarnation and past lives. Along with this, the law of karma and moksha (liberation from the cycle of birth and death) have also been mentioned. He has accepted the Vedas. Despite this, anti-Hindu elements are creating confusion by misinterpreting the verses of Mahatma Basaveshwara and misleading the society.

3. By making a distinction between Veerashaiva and Lingayat, these people are trying to create a division in the Lingayat community. Through this, they are plotting to create a division in Hindu Dharma. We are Hindus first, then we are Veerashaiva and Lingayat, Swamiji emphasized.

Veerashaiva and Lingayat are one and the same and are sects of Hindu Dharma

Veerashaivas and Lingayats are one and the same. They are not different, they are Hindus. If a handful of people want to create a new Lingayat religion, they should abandon the old muths based on Hindu Lingayat ideas and build new. They should abandon the saffron robes and find new robes. They should abandon the Linga, Bhasma, Rudraksha and the chanting of mantras that are part of Hindu Dharma from the Sanatan Agama Shastra and find something new; otherwise, this anti-religious nonsense should stop. If this anti-religious nonsense does not stop, then huge ‘Basavadi Hindu Dharma Sammelan’ like this one, will be organized across the country, said Param Pujya Kadsiddheshwar Swamiji.
