The 2026 Bengal election will be fought on the issue of preventing infiltration : Amit Shah

Amit Shah and Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata – The political temperature across Bengal has risen over the issue of the 2026 state assembly elections. Political parties have also started their preparations for the polls. Against this backdrop, Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a press conference in Kolkata on December 30. He strongly criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress party in the state on several issues, including infiltration, corruption, and misgovernance. Shah said that the BJP government will be established in Bengal in 2026, and that the 2026 Bengal election will be fought on the issue of stopping infiltration.

Shah further said in the press conference that:

1. Mamata Banerjee is encouraging Bangladeshi infiltration to win the elections.

2. The Union government could not complete the fencing work on the Bangladesh border because the Trinamool Congress government did not provide us with the land.

3. For the past 15 years, during the Trinamool Congress government’s tenure, fear, corruption, and misgovernance have prevailed in the state. This has left the common citizens of Bengal worried. Corruption has halted the development of Bengal.

4. Infiltration across the Bengal border is a matter of national security and should be taken seriously.

5. After April 2026, when a BJP government is established in Bengal, the state’s culture and heritage will be revived.
