Congress workers and leaders singing the national anthem

Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) – In an embarrassing episode for the Congress party in Kerala, party workers sang the national anthem incorrectly during the party’s 140th foundation day celebrations.  It was attended by top state leaders, including former Union Defence Minister AK Antony, Kerala’s former Health Minister VM Sudheeran, former Union Urban development Minister of State Deepadas Munshi and other senior Congress leaders.

The incident occurred at the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) headquarters on Saturday. As leaders stood up for the national anthem, the lead singer began with Jana-gana-mangala-dayaka jaya he instead of the correct opening line, Jana-gana-mana-adhinayaka jaya he.

A video of the incident quickly went viral on social media, triggering a major controversy and drawing sharp reactions from opposition parties and the public alike. Till now there has been no explanation from the Congress about this incident.

Editorial Perspective

Hypocrite Patriotism of the Congress ! It is India’s misfortune that the Congress Party, whose senior leaders cannot sing the National Anthem, ruled India for more than 6 decades.
