Nagpur, 10 December – A representation was submitted to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in the State Legislature on behalf of the Maharashtra Mandir Mahasangh, urging the enactment of an anti-land grabbing law for temples, the imposition of a ban on the ‘Sunburn Festival’ scheduled in Mumbai from 19 to 21 December, and the waiver of stamp duty on temples. Present at the occasion were Sunil Ghanwat, the National Organiser of the Mandir Mahasangh, and Abhijit Polke from the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reviewed all three demands and forwarded the representation to the Secretary for further action.

A demand has also been made for the immediate implementation of an anti-land grabbing law, on the lines of Gujarat and Karnataka, for the protection of thousands of acres of temple-owned agricultural land that have been seized by land mafias. Additionally, it has been urged that Special Investigation Teams (SITs) be set up.
