Hindu organisations stopped the marriage of a minor Hindu girl to a Muslim youth

An incident in Shahjahanpur (Uttar Pradesh)

Shahjahanpur (Uttar Pradesh) – Hindu organisations stopped the marriage of a minor Hindu girl studying in class 9 to a Muslim youth at the Janata Marriage Hall in Shahvajnagar by bringing Police at the venue. This generated a lot of commotion at the marriage hall. Police arrested people from both sides. Police have not received any written complaint in this matter as of now. It is being said that investigation is underway and legal action will be taken thereafter. It has been found that the girl is 16 years old though during interrogation she had said that she was 17.

In this case, noting that the persons involved do not seem to fear the law, some people have demanded that stringent sections related to religious conversion and fraud be applied to the accused, and that harsh measures be taken to stop such incidents.

Editorial Perspective

Now, it has become inevitable to enact a law that prescribes the punishment of hanging for such people.
