Impose a nationwide ban on the halal certification that has become a threat to national security

Demand raised in the Legislative Assembly by BJP MLA Mohan Mate

Nagpur, December 9th – A serious crisis has emerged in the country due to the illegal ‘halal certification’ system run by certain private Islamic organisations. This issue is not merely commercial anymore; it has now become a challenge to India’s sovereignty and a threat to national security. Therefore, just as in Uttar Pradesh, a nationwide ban should be imposed on the ‘halal certification’ system. BJP MLA Mohan Mate put forth this demand in the Legislative Assembly on December 9th while presenting a Calling Attention Motion.

Enact a law against illegal land acquisition to protect agricultural lands belonging to temples

MLA Mohan Mate further stated that devotees are now forced to collect funds for cleaning temple ponds or celebrating festivals, while land mafias illegally grab and profit from lands belonging to temples. This is unbecoming of the Maharashtra of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Therefore, The nation needs leaders rooted in the ideals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and temple properties must be protected in that spirit. Thousands of acres of agricultural land owned by temples have been encroached upon by land mafias. Therefore, following the models of Gujarat and Karnataka, a stringent Anti-Illegal Land Acquisition Law must be enacted immediately, and special investigation teams should be established for this purpose, he demanded.

What is ‘Halal’ Certification ?

According to Islam, ‘halal’ refers to what is permissible or lawful. Earlier, the term was limited mainly to meat; however, with the intention of establishing an independent Islamic economic system, the concept of halal certification has now expanded to household products, medicines, cosmetics, and various other items.

To obtain this certification, essentially meaning “it complies with Islamic norms”, the manufacturers have to approach certain Islamic organisations. The certificates they issue are known as ‘halal’ certificates. This is a conspiracy by religious extremists to build a parallel Islamic economy in the country through the mechanism of ‘Halal’ certification, with the aim of weakening the existing national economy.”
