BJP’s Medha Kulkarni demands ‘Hindu Faith Protection Act’ to prevent denigration of Hindu Deities on social media

BJP MP from Pune Medha Kulkarni’s earnest demand in the Lok Sabha

New Delhi – ‘AI-generated and altered pornographic images of Hindu Deities are being widely used on social media. This is a well-planned conspiracy, and its sole purpose is to trample on the faith of Hindus, weaken cultural unity and create religious tension in the country. The Government take immediate and strict action in view of this new challenge arising from the misuse of technology,’ demanded Medha Kulkarni, BJP MP from Pune, while speaking in the Lok Sabha recently. Kulkarni also demanded that accountability be fixed while creating religious material on digital platforms and that a ‘Hindu Faith Protection Act’ be immediately enacted against religious defamation through ‘AI’ (Artificial Intelligence).

Remove halal certification on items other than meat : MP Medha Kulkarni

MP Medha Kulkarni demanded in the Lok Sabha to remove halal certification for non-meat products. She said that the word ‘halal’ is a concept associated with a specific religion and belief, which is related only to non-vegetarian food. India is a secular country. There are people of other faiths living in India, whose beliefs are against and contrary to halal. Imposing halal certified non-vegetarian food on such non-vegetarian people does not seem right in a secular country and is against the Constitution. What is the need for halal certification for non-meat products ? What is the need for certification for food items like milk, sugar, oil, medicines, cosmetics ? Issuing halal certification to construction materials, cement, steel, plastic and mineral sites is illogical and creates doubts.

In India, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has the authority to certify food. The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) is the Government authority to certify medicines. Then why should any religious organization have such authority ? Why religious organizations like Halal India Limited, Halal Services India Private Limited, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind Halal Trust, Jamiat Ulema-e-Maharashtra are charging a fee for certification ? And they are not even food experts. 70 to 80 such fake organizations have been found, which are issuing fake certificates, against which a case has been registered in the State of Uttar Pradesh.

Demands made by MP Medha Kulkarni :

1. If Halal certification is to be given to meat products for the convenience of the community that believes in Halal, then a Government system should be set up under FSSAI, FDI and the certification fee should be deposited in the Government treasury.

2. The right to certify private organizations and NGOs should be immediately revoked.

3. The Government may, as required, appoint a salaried expert member of Islam who will work with the Government Expert Committee.

4. The fee amount related to this certification should be deposited in the Government treasury.

5. Action should be taken against fake organizations, as well as organizations related to treason.

6. Halal certification on items other than meat should be removed.

Editorial Perspective

The leaders should not have to demand this. The Government should enact such laws voluntarily to protect the Hindu Deities.
