Madani had sparked controversy with his statement – “Whenever injustice occurs, there will be jihad”

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) – Maulana Arshad Madani, President of the Islamic body Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, recently sparked controversy following the arrest of the Al-Falah University chairman. He reacted with a provocative statement declaring, “Whenever injustice occurs, there will be jihad.” Protesting this, activists of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal staged a protest at Roshanpura Square in Bhopal.

The protestors garlanded Madani’s effigy with footwear and slippers, hurled shoes at it, and later set it on fire. The demonstrators demanded legal action against him, stating, “Madani’s remarks are anti- national and anti-Hindu. Therefore, strict legal action must be taken against him.”
“Preparing to incite Muslims and lead the country into Civil War” – Jitendra Chauhan, Regional Joint Secretary, VHP
“Before independence, the country was partitioned. Muslims demanded Pakistan, and it was given to them. Now which new Pakistan do they want? Such people are provoking Muslim youth and preparing them for jihad and civil war by repeatedly opposing Vande Mataram, Supreme Court verdicts, and other national institutions.”
“An attempt to undermine national honour” – Vinod Bansal, National Spokesperson, VHP
“Individuals like Madani are misleading Muslim youth using slogans of ‘oppression, jannat (paradise) and jihad’. Certain radical elements are trying to undermine the country’s judicial system and national pride. The Muslim community too should keep away from such forces.”
Editorial PerspectiveAt a time when Islamic hardliners evade accountability for radical actions and instead blame Hindus, it is no surprise that Hindu organisations are beginning to react aggressively against leaders like Maulana Madani who attempt to portray Hindus as ‘villains’. |
