Mumbai – A case has been registered against a priest who dressed the idol of the goddess in the clothes of Mother Mary and attached a cross to it at the Shri Kalimate temple in the crematorium premises at Washinaka in Chembur. This incident was noticed by devotees on the night of 22nd November. Based on a complaint filed by local devotees, the Police have arrested priest Ramesh Yogeshwar and the court has given him 2 days judicial custody.
Local devotees gathered and asked priest Ramesh Yogeshwar about this incident. He said, ‘the goddess came to me in a dream and asked me to give the idol the form of Mother Mary.’ Therefore, the angry devotees handed him over to the Police. ‘There is a conspiracy behind this to convert people and some more people are involved in this. They should be found and arrested,’ the devotees and local Hindutva organisations have demanded.
