NCP Sharad Pawar faction’s Mumbra–Kalwa President Shamim Khan booked by Police !

Case of raising ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans

Mumbra (District Thane) – A case has been registered against Shamim Khan, Mumbra–Kalwa President of the Nationalist Congress Party – Sharad Pawar faction, for raising ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans. Nine months ago, Shamim Khan had organised a protest march in Mumbra against Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam attack. Former minister and Mumbra–Kalwa MLA Jitendra Awhad, along with several party workers and locals, had participated in that march.

During the protest, instead of shouting ‘Pakistan Murdabad’, Shamim Khan raised the slogan ‘Pakistan Zindabad’. A short while later, realising the mistake, he corrected it by shouting ‘Pakistan Murdabad’. The video of this incident is now circulating widely. The Police are conducting further investigation.

Editorial Perspectives

1. Why did MLA Jitendra Awhad not notice that the slogan was wrong ? Or did he conveniently ignore it to exhibit his affection towards Muslims ? If someone feels that action should be taken against MLA Jitendra Awhad for failing to stop an act that endorses treason, would it be wrong ?

2. Does a political faction whose leaders glorify Pakistan even have the right to use the word ‘Nationalist’ in its name ? What action has this faction taken against such individuals ? Or does the faction itself approve of this behaviour ?
