Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh): BJP MLA Nandkishor Gurjar sparked controversy after declaring that “those who slaughter cows should be beheaded.” Speaking at a public gathering in Saharanpur, he said: “Even when Hindu deities are insulted, Hindus remain silent and tolerate everything. Such anti-Hindu forces must be taught a lesson. Cow slaughter cannot be stopped by requesting people — it requires strict punishment. The cow is our mother, and protecting the mother is everyone’s duty. Therefore, those who slaughter cows deserve to have their heads cut off.”
A video of his remarks has gone viral across social media
Opposition parties and several social organisations have strongly condemned his statement, calling it an invitation to violence from a public platform. Many have demanded action against Gurjar, who is the MLA from the Loni constituency.
Praise for Yogi Adityanath’s administrationDuring the same event, MLA Gurjar praised the Yogi Adityanath government, stating: “Earlier, illegal slaughterhouses operated fearlessly and crimes against women were rampant. Saharanpur once had a large population of hardliners, but now no one dares to issue open threats. In localities where even men avoided stepping out after sunset, today women can walk freely wearing jewellery. All credit goes to the strict actions taken under Yogi Adityanath’s administration.” |
