Islamabad (Pakistan) – The bomb blast that occurred here on 11 November claimed 12 lives and injured 27 others. The Sri Lankan cricket team is currently on tour in Pakistan and is staying in Islamabad. Following the blast, the team requested permission from its cricket board to return home; however, the board rejected the request and insisted that all scheduled matches must be played. The board has even warned the players that any attempt to return home will invite an inquiry. The Sri Lankan board has stated that the Pakistan Cricket Board has assured full security, and therefore the players should complete the tour.

1. During this tour, the Sri Lankan team is scheduled to play three One-Day Internationals. One match has already been played, while two remain. After this, a triangular series involving Pakistan and Zimbabwe is set to take place.

2. In 2009, when the Sri Lankan team was touring Pakistan, they were subjected to a terrorist attack. Although there were no fatalities, the incident had a severe impact, leading many international teams to stop touring Pakistan. As a result, Pakistan had to host its home matches in the United Arab Emirates for several years.
