Gadchiroli, Maharashtra – The District Women and Child Welfare Department rescued 91 students from an unauthorised hostel that has been running for the last 11 years at Nagepally, near Aheri town. These include 49 girls and 42 boys. It has been revealed that Christian conversion was being carried out in the hostel. The students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the hostel said that their religion was Christianity and they and their parents had converted to Christianity.
The concerned ‘Aashirvad’ hostel was run by the ‘Friend Missionary Prayer Band Chennai’. The hostel was not recognised by any Government department.
Christian prayers were held in the hostel
According to the information given by the students, Christian prayers were held in the hostel in the morning and evening. Each student was found to have a ‘Bible’. Christian pamphlets were also pasted on the walls of the hostel.
Students in the hostel were being charged Rs. 600 per month from classes 1 to 4, Rs. 1,000 from classes 5 to 8, and Rs. 1,200 from classes 9 to 12. (It should be found out exactly where this money was being spent – Editor).
