Clashes erupt between Hindus and Muslims in Sambhal (Uttar Pradesh) over Diwali firecrackers

Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh – A clash broke out between Hindu and Muslim communities in Ahmadnagar Tharaisa village of Sambhal district on the night of Diwali, 21 October, following a dispute over bursting firecrackers. People from both sides confronted each other, leading to stone-pelting that left around six persons injured. A large police force and security personnel have been deployed in the village to control the tense situation.

The incident occurred at around 8 p.m. when firecrackers were being lit at the house of Dharmapal Jatav on the occasion of Diwali. A Muslim youth named Sadiq had come to watch the fireworks, when an argument broke out among the children present. The dispute soon escalated into a fight between Hindu and Muslim families, resulting in stone-pelting from both sides. Upon receiving information about the communal clash, Police Inspector Manoj Kumar Verma reached the spot with his team and managed to pacify both groups.
