It is not Adina Mosque; it is Adinath Temple : BJP

Congress MP and former cricketer Yusuf Pathan faces opposition over his post on Adina Mosque

Yusuf Pathan and Adina Mosque

Malda (Bengal) – Trinamool Congress MP and former cricketer Yusuf Pathan recently visited the Adina Mosque located here. He shared photographs of the mosque on social media, referring to it as “historic.” Following his post, the Bengal BJP reacted by claiming, “That is not a mosque but the former Adinath Temple.”

In his post, Yusuf Pathan wrote –

“The Adina Mosque was built in the 14th century by Sultan Sikandar Shah, the second ruler of the Ilyas Shahi dynasty. Constructed between 1373 and 1375, it was the largest mosque in the Indian subcontinent at the time and stood as a symbol of the architectural grandeur of the region.”

After his post, many users on social media claimed that the structure Pathan referred to as a mosque was built over a temple. Some supported this claim by citing historical evidence, while others completely dismissed the assertion that it was once the Adinath Temple.

Editorial Perspective

Union government must now order an inquiry into all the mosques in the country that are claimed to have been built over former temples. There is no alternative left but to liberate Hindu temples.
