Municipal Commissioner of Jalna arrested while accepting a ₹10 lakh bribe !

Jalna, Maharashtra – The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Jalna Municipal Corporation’s acting Commissioner, Santosh Khandekar, red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹10 lakh from a private contractor. The ACB has launched an in-depth investigation into the case.

According to the ACB, Khandekar had demanded a bribe from the complainant for clearing the payment related to a construction project. Taking the complaint seriously, the ACB laid a trap and arrested him while accepting the money. Advocate Reema Kharat has demanded a detailed probe into Khandekar’s properties, stating, “The Commissioner demolished the homes of the poor — this is the result of his own deeds. The action taken is justified.” Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi’s Youth District President, Vijay Lahane, also welcomed the arrest.

Editorial Perspectives

  •    Jalna Municipal Corporation rotten with corruption !
  •    When senior officials themselves indulge in bribery, it raises serious questions about the integrity of the entire system. Strong legal action and confiscation of such officials’ assets are essential to deter others from similar misconduct.
