Haridwar (Uttarakhand) -Under the leadership of Ayodhya Foundation’s Founder Ms Meenakshi Sharan, the 9th ‘Jal-Tarpan’ rites were collectively performed on 21st September 2025 (Sarvapitri Amavasya) at the Holy Chandi Ghat here in the memory of Hindus who sacrificed their lives for the protection of Sanatan Dharma. Hindus from India and abroad, and representatives of devout Hindu organisations were present for these rites. Following is a gist of the programme.
Glory of our Hindu culture has been preserved due to sacrifices of our ancestors : Ms Meenakshi Sharan
Ms Meenakshi Sharan said that in the last fourteen centuries, about 80 crore Hindus sacrificed their lives for the protection of Hindu Dharma, Hindu faith, identity and culture. These brave warriors never converted. Due to their sacrifice, Hindus have been able to maintain their identity and glorify their culture. Collective ‘Tarpan’ is the need of the hour to repay this debt. This religious ceremony connects us to honour our history. She stated further :
1. Hindus need to know their Dharma, traditions and history if India wants to keep alive its Sanatan culture and chivalry. To honour the struggle of millions of our ancestors, such a collective Tarpan not only keeps alive their memories but also inspires future generations.
2. Among the dignitaries were Mr Nishith Sharan (Political advisor), Ms Shivani Sohi and Mr Gurupratap Singh Sohi (Brand builders), Mr Trilok Singh Sohi (Founder of Shashwar Bharat Trust, Dehradun), Dr Kuldeep Datta, Col. Vivek Gupta (Retd), Mr Ashok Kumar Windlass (CII Uttarakhand’s Chairman), Dr Charudatta Pingale (National Guide of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti), Mr Kamal Gautam (President, Hindu Raksha Manch, Himachal Pradesh), Dr Mahendra Thakur, Col. Honey Bakshi (Former Intelligence officer), Mr Vimal Uniyal (of Gadh Sena, Dehradun), Mr Shailendra Doval (of Sanatan Raksha Board), Adv. Amita Sachdev (of Supreme Court) and about 100 children.
3. This year, thousands of Hindus from India, besides Kenya, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, UK, Dubai, Canada, and Singapore organised a collective Tarpan at their respective locations.
