Mamata Banerjee issues clarification on her statement about the gang rape incident

Kolkata (Bengal) – Speaking on the recent gang rape of a medical student in Durgapur, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said, “Girls should not move around at night. The college administration bears full responsibility for this incident.” Following severe criticism of her statement, Banerjee attempted to clarify her remarks, saying, “The media has distorted my statement. The media asks me questions, and I respond to them. Do not turn this into politics.”
Mamata Banerjee says, "My statement was misinterpreted!" after backlash on her comments 🤦♀️
It's the classic political move: Blame the media instead of owning the wretched state of law and order in the state.
The people demand accountability, not a politician's standard… https://t.co/OsRTnYjyKi pic.twitter.com/GQqW6sQe7Y
