Beef thrown on the road in Ahilyanagar, MLAs stage sit-in protest in the Muslim-majority area of the city

Demand for permanent action against illegal slaughterhouses in the city including Mukundnagar

Ahilyanagar, Maharashtra – Pro-Hindu organizations have become aggressive after pieces of beef were thrown on the road near the Kotla bus stand in the city. This led to NCP MLA Sangram Jagtap and BJP MLA Vikram Pachpute taking to the streets and blocking the road. The road blockade on the highway, demanding permanent action against illegal slaughterhouses in the city, including Mukundnagar, caused traffic congestion.

The area where Jagtap and Pachpute blocked the road, the Kotla bus stand area, is a Muslim dominated area. There are many meat shops here. Pro-Hindu activists had also taken to the streets. As tension built up in the area surrounding the protest, the city Police increased security.

‘Abdul Dange Murdabad’ slogans raised against Commissioner Yashwant Dange

Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Yashwant Dange and his fellow officers arrived at the protest site. At this time, the protesters raised slogans against Dange as ‘Abdul Dange Murdabad’. Due to this, the tension increased. Commissioner Dange assured the protesters that action would be taken against illegal slaughterhouses and cases would be registered. After this, the protest was withdrawn; however, MLA Sangram Jagtap has informed that a grand march has been organized on September 25th against all these incidents. (Why is a protest march required for the administration to take action against illegal slaughterhouses ? When will the administration become efficient ? – Editor).

At this time, MLA Jagtap threatened that he could respond to cow slaughter in a different way. While criticizing the municipal administration, he also said that this is the ‘Haji administration’. Some protesters had brought pigs to the protest. When the Police and municipal administration confiscated them, they clashed with the protesters. After the strong stance of aggressive Hindutva supporters, the Police had increased security in Ahilyanagar city.

Tarbeez Qureshi arrested in the case

Tarbeez Abid Qureshi has been arrested in connection with the cow slaughter case. Beef and an old two-wheeler worth Rs 40,000 were seized from him. Qureshi has admitted his crime. He slaughtered two cows at his residence and sold their meat. After slaughtering, he used minors to dispose of the waste meat and remains. He paid them for this. He said that he threw these remains near the Kotla bus stand.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Hindus expect that immediate action should be taken against all illegal slaughterhouses when there is a pro-Hindu Government in the State.
  • Note that while pro-Hindu leaders protest when Hindu religious sentiments are hurt, when the sentiments of minorities are hurt, their people raise slogans of ‘Sar Tan Se Juda’ (decapitating) and even commit actual beheading.
