Washington – US President Donald Trump said that India has offered to reduce import tariffs, but it is getting late.

Trump made this statement in the wake of India’s large purchases of oil and defense equipment from Russia.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to India after attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, reactions from US leaders are coming out one after another. The release of photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin together at the summit has increased concerns in the US. According to experts, India has given a clear signal to the US through this platform that ‘we will not succumb to any pressure’.

Trump’s audacity is benefitting China

Trump’s arbitrary actions are being heavily criticized from within the United States. Former National Security Advisor John Bolton called Trump’s import tariff hike policy “disastrous.” He says that the policy failed to keep India away from Russia and gave China an opportunity to regain its global power.
