Dhaka (Bangladesh) – Among the 25 newly appointed judges in Bangladesh, not a single one is Hindu. The Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council, the largest minority organization in Bangladesh, has expressed strong dissatisfaction over this exclusion.
According to the council, 25 judges were appointed this week as additional judges to the High Court Division of the Supreme Court. Among them are 9 judicial officers, 9 advocates, and 7 law officers. Despite there being qualified individuals from minority communities in all these fields, none were included, which the council described as deeply disappointing.
750 Prisoners Still at Large
According to Bangladesh’s chief prison authorities, out of nearly 2,700 prisoners who escaped during the jail riot in July last year, around 750 are still absconding. Among them are several death-row convicts and nine jihadi terrorists.
