Bengaluru (Karnataka) – Chamundeshwari is not the property of only Hindus. Dasara is not a religious festival but it is a cultural festival (Editorial Perspective: Please note that Dasara festival is a symbol of the victory of Dharma i.e. Sanatan Dharma ) What is wrong if Banu Mushtaq inaugurates Dasara festival, questioned deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar in response to BJP’s opposition to selection of anti-Hindu writer Banu Mushtaq for inauguration of Dasara festival at Mysuru.
Shivakumar further stated –
1. Chamundi Hill, Chamundi Devi, belongs to people of all religions. People from all communities go to Chamundeshwari Temple. They have faith. We go to mosques, churches, Jain temples, Gurudwaras, etc. Is going to the Gurudwara wrong? Then, what is wrong with non-Hindus going to Hindu temples; why should there be opposition?
2. Haven’t many Hindus accepted Islam or Christianity? (Editorial Perspective: Hindus were forced and terrorised to convert is the history. Oppressive Muslim invaders converted Hindus; therefore, Shivakumar needs to be condemned for saying half-truth and for his wicked attempts to mislead Hindus) Don’t Muslims follow a few Hindu customs? (Editorial Perspective: Does it mean that Hindus should also follow Muslim customs ?) It is all politics. What is the objection to climbing a hill or to inaugurate, asked Dy CM Shivakumar. (Editorial Perspective: Hindus definitely have an objection ) Is there any hoarding in Ayodhya that only Hindus should go there? (Editorial Perspective: What will people who consume beef and don’t believe in idol-worshipping do in Hindu temples ?)
You (Congressmen) believe only in one family as their God – MP Yaduveer Wadiyar
Chamundi Hill is open to all religions and communities. There are people from all castes and religions worshipping Devi; they have faith in Devi and respect Her, but Chamundi Hill is a ‘Shaktipeetha’. Goddess Chamundeshwari is a Hindu Goddess, and there is a reference to her in the Hindu holy book ‘Markandeya Purana’, but not in any other holy scripture of any religion. Here, ‘puja’ is performed daily, and customs are followed as per the Hindu Dharmashastra. All people who go there worship Her as Devi. It is the biggest cultural festival in our country. People of all religions can take part in it, but basically, it is a Hindu religious festival. The date of its celebration is decided as per the Hindu almanac. It is not a festival which can be changed as per someone’s wish or sentiments. You treat only one family as your God. In such a situation, do not dare to refute the Hindu form of Devi and the religious traditions of Dasara. We are not playing politics. You are playing politics of appeasement and attacking our Dharma; therefore, we have stood to protect our Dharma, stated BJP MLA Mr Yaduveer Wadiyar from Mysuru on his ‘X’ account.
