Minorities receive more Govt support than Hindus : Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister for Minority Affairs

New Delhi – The minority communities are being given more funds by the Government than the Hindus. Everything that Hindus get, minorities also get; but what minorities get, Hindus do not get. Minorities get more Government support than Hindus, said Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju in an interview with the ‘Indian Express’.

There is no reduction in the funds for minorities

On the question, ‘Why has the Government reduced the funds allocated for the minorities?’, Rijiju replied that there has been no reduction in the minority funds. The Union Government provides 60%of the minority funds while the State Governments provide 40%. In Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and the northeastern States, this ratio is 90:10. The assistance provided by the Union Government has been rationalised. Assistance is being provided as per the requirement. There has been no reduction in the funds. In the last 10 years, scholarships for minorities have increased by 172%. The number of girls benefiting from these scholarships has increased by 182%.

Fraud in the name of scholarships for minorities

On the complaints regarding the ‘Maulana Azad National Fellowship’, Rijiju said that there are scholarships for minorities in the country. There are also scholarships for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. It was revealed 3-4 years ago that funds were misused. Thousands of fake names were registered in minority institutions. Government money was taken in the name of scholarships. It was revealed that the Government had been cheated. As many such cases came to light, criminal cases were registered in different States. The trial in this regard is in the final stage.
