If the religious sentiments of the Varkaris are hurt, then I take back my words : Abu Azmi, SP

The case of a statement made that Palkhis of the Pandharpur Vari (Pilgrimage) create traffic congestion

Leader of the Samajwadi Party Abu Azmi

Mumbai – If the Varkaris’ religious sentiments have been hurt my statement, then I take back what I said. My statement has been misinterpreted. I had no intention of hurting anyone’s religious sentiments, said Samajwadi Party leader Abu Azmi. Two days ago he had said that the Palkhi in the Vari (the religious procession going to Pandharpur) creates traffic jams and congestion.

Editorial Perspectives

  • Abu Azmi has hurt the Hindu religious sentiments many times by his controversial statements; but no action has been taken against him. Hence, he keeps making Hinduphobic statements.
  • It is necessary that Hindus should promptly deal legally with his statement, such that he does not dare make Hinduphobic statements ever again.
