Tired of the administration’s negligence, Karnataka citizens build roads by themselves

Roads built in 7 places across 6 Districts

Koverkolli (Karnataka) – Tired of complaining about the bad roads in the State for years, the people have started building the roads themselves due to administration’s inaction. The people are collecting funds and donating labour too. Due to this, the damaged roads have been repaired in a day. Such roads have been built in 7 villages of 6 Districts of the State. These include Gadag, Dharwad, Shivamogga, Kodagu, Koppal and Hassan Districts.

1. The people of Bharatiyanoor and Banashankari in Chikkamagaluru District collected ₹15,75,000 and built a 286-metre-long road.

2. In Matsyashala village in Hassan District, a person donated 4 trucks of bricks. After that, the villagers collected other materials and built the road by offering free labour.

3. Swapnil Bandi, founder of an organization called ‘People’s Road’, said that we want to implement such a campaign in every State across the country, so that the Government machinery knows its responsibilities concretely. (This will not have any effect on the errant administrative officers and employees who have become so thick-skinned – Editor) So far, 286 villages have contacted us.

Editorial Perspectives

  • This is disgraceful ! The concerned administrative officials should be dismissed and severely punished.
  • If people have to build the roads themselves, then why should the white elephant called ‘administration’ be maintained with the people’s money ?
  • The concerned citizens must demand for refund of income tax and other taxes paid by them from the Government.
