Guwahati (Assam) – On the occasion of Bakri Eid, an incident occurred in Dhubri where unidentified miscreants threw beef outside the Hanuman temple. The disgusting act, which took place on June 8th , has been widely condemned as deeply offensive and provocative. Reacting strongly, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that a certain group appears to be deliberately targeting temples to incite communal tension. He further declared that police have been instructed to take immediate and strict action against those involved, including issuing shoot-on-sight orders for such offenders.

“I will personally stand guard outside the temple next Eid” – Chief Minister Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared that, if necessary, he would personally stand vigil outside the Hanuman temple on the next Eid to prevent any incidents of desecration. He revealed that a new “beef mafia” has emerged in Dhubri, reportedly having purchased thousands of animals before Eid. Police investigations are currently underway, and those found guilty will be taken into custody.

During his visit to Dhubri, the Chief Minister directed officials to adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards individuals and groups involved in defiling temples and other sacred sites. “Those responsible will not be spared. Such incidents must never recur in our state,” he asserted.

Chief Minister Sarma also expressed concern over rising activities of anti-social elements in Assam and across the border in Bangladesh. He warned that a certain group—both online and offline—is actively working to create communal unrest in a coordinated manner. “A special class has become active with the intent to disturb harmony. We will not allow such forces to succeed,” he said.
