Gross Negligence by Railway Administration Towards BSF Troops

A dilapidated train was assigned to transport soldiers heading to provide security for the Amarnath Yatra

Dirty Train

Agartala (Tripura) – The Indian Railways assigned a worn-out train to transport 1,200 BSF (Border Security Force) soldiers to their deployment site for providing security during the Amarnath Yatra. Upon seeing the poor condition of the train, the soldiers refused to board it. The windows, doors, electrical systems, and toilets were all in a dilapidated state. Following the soldiers’ protest, Indian Railways arranged for an alternative train after four days. The soldiers were to reach Kashmir to provide service to the Amarnath pilgrims.

This special train was scheduled to depart on June 6 from Udaipur railway station in Tripura to Jammu Tawi railway station.

When the BSF commander inspected the special train at Udaipur, he found it unfit for the soldiers’ safety and other essential needs, and hence, the train was cancelled.

As a result, the deployment of BSF soldiers for the Amarnath Yatra was delayed. (In such a scenario, if a terrorist attack had occurred at Amarnath during this delay, it would have been crucial to determine responsibility! – Editor) Earlier, these soldiers were to be stationed in Kashmir by June 12.

Editorial Perspective

During ‘Operation Sindoor,’ when Pakistan attacked residential areas in Jammu and Kashmir, BSF soldiers retaliated single-handedly and destroyed 118 enemy bases. In such a context, the railway officials responsible for this disgraceful treatment must be suspended.
