New Delhi – In recent days, radical Islamic organisations across the country have been staging protests against the Tata Group. These protests are being led by an organisation named Indian People in Solidarity with Palestine (IPSP), which supports Hamas and other pro-Palestinian entities. The protests are aimed at the Tata Group’s alleged business ties with Israel. Protesters are calling for a boycott of Tata products across the country in support of Palestine.

1. The student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, known as the Students Islamic Organisation (SIO), held a protest in front of the store of Tata’s fashion brand ‘Zudio’ on 28thMay in Kozhikode, Kerala.
2. Similar demonstrations were held by these organisations in Delhi, Chandigarh, Rohtak, Patna, Mumbai, Pune, Vijayawada, and other locations outside Tata-owned brand stores. They also launched an online campaign calling for a boycott of Tata Group’s products.
Why the protest against Tata Group ?

According to Mohammad Shafaq, SIO’s president in Kozhikode, the Tata Group supplies armoured vehicles to Israel, which he claims are used exclusively in Gaza.
He further stated that missiles manufactured in Tata factories are being used by Israel in Gaza, which, he believes, is extremely alarming for an Indian brand. SIO claims to oppose injustice, whether it is in Gaza or the United States.
3. This nationwide boycott campaign against Tata and other brands is said to be inspired by the global BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) movement targeting Israel — a movement that is often considered anti-Semitic.
