No action, but encouragement for Shrishti Jaswal’s offensive post on Shrikrushna !

  • Journalist Vijay Patel’s statement following the measures taken against Sharmishtha

  • Anti-India and anti-Hindu organisations and individuals exposed with evidence

New Delhi – In June 2020, journalist Shrishti Jaswal drew intense criticism after posting an obscene remark about Shrikrushna, provoking outrage and condemnation from the wider community. Although Hindustan Times initially suspended Jaswal in response to public outrage, she was reinstated not long after. Later, Shrishti Jaswal went on to achieve significant professional success, while Sharmishtha’s case has largely been ignored. In contrast, she is now facing what many consider an unjust arrest, noted prominent journalist Vijay Patel in a report shared on ‘X’.

In the ‘post thread’ made by Patel, he further added –

  1. Journalist Shrishti Jaswal’s career advancement appears to be bolstered by international support networks. Despite her inappropriate remarks about Shrikrushna, she went on to receive a grant from the American-based Pulitzer Centre. Funding for the Pulitzer Centre comes from influential global organisations such as the Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Omidyar Network, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Many of these entities have been accused of supporting agendas that undermine Indian sovereignty and Hindu cultural identity.
  2. In India, Srishti received a fellowship from the National Foundation for India (NFI), which the Ford Foundation also funds. Notably, NFI’s advisors include Seema Chishti (wife of CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury and editor of ‘The Wire’) and Dhanya Rajendran (founder of the anti-Hindu media outlet ‘The News Minute’).
  3. Shrishti got a job at places like ‘Caravan’ and ‘Article 14’, which are funded by media houses like ‘Wipro’s’ Azim Premji and ‘Infosys’s” Nandan Nilekani.
  4. Shristi Jaswal has also been a ‘moderator’ at a program of the organisation ‘Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’.

Some basic questions raised by Patel from the ‘X’ post!

  1. Even if obscene comments are made about Hindu deities, they are tolerated, but what would have happened if the same had been done with other religions ?
  2. Would Shrishti Jaswal have been tolerated if she had made such a comment about the Prophet Muhammad ?
  3. Sharmishtha from Kolkata was arrested by the police for just a remark. Doesn’t this reveal the double standards of India’s media and legal system?

Editorial Perspective

Remarkably, individuals who target Hindu places of worship with offensive commentary often receive global acclaim and career boosts, rather than accountability. In stark contrast, if a Hindu makes an unintentional remark about another religion’s place of worship, they are often vilified and left to face the consequences alone. Disturbingly, they rarely receive support from fellow Hindus or Hindu organisations.
