
New Delhi – The monsoon has arrived in Kerala on May 24, which is 8 days earlier than the usual schedule. This is the first time in 16 years that such an early onset has occurred, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The monsoon is expected to advance into many parts of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, and reach central and eastern India by June 4, the IMD added.

Storm and rainfall warnings have been issued across 29 states in the country. In Uttar Pradesh, the death toll due to storm- and rain-related incidents over the past three days has risen to 60. Meanwhile, a heatwave alert has been issued for western Rajasthan until May 27 due to strong hot winds.
