India’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ : Strike on 9 terrorists’ bases

New Delhi –  India has taken revenge for the attack by jihadi terrorists at Pahalgam in which they targeted Hindus. Indian forces carried out the strike in Pak-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Punjab in Pakistan in 25 minutes from 1.05 a.m. to 1.30 a.m. on the night of 06.05.2025. Nine hideouts of jihadi terrorists were destroyed in the attack. It is reported that more than 100 terrorists have been killed. India named this air-strike as ‘Operation Sindoor’. The above information was given in a joint press conference held by Indian Army, External Affairs Ministry and Air Force through External Affairs Secretary Vikram Mistry, Col Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh. Pictures of terrorists’ bases taken through satellite were shown in the press conference. Information about terrorists trained at these bases and details of their involvement in various attacks was also shared on the occasion. It was clarified that none of the army bases in Pakistan were targeted in this strike.

1. Bahawalpur (Punjab)

Markaz Subhan Allah, the main office of Jaish-e- Mohammad (JeM) was attacked where the plan of terrorist attack at Pulwama on 14.02.2019 was hatched and the terrorists were trained.

2. Muridke (Punjab)

Markab Taiba is an important training centre of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and in operation since 2000. Ajmal Kasab and David Coleman Headley were also trained at this centre.

3. Sarjal Tehra Kalan (Sialkot, Punjab)

JeM’s main launch-pad is here (to house and infiltrate terrorists in India). It is in a primary health centre. Terrorists killing Policemen in March 2025, were trained here.

4. Bhimber (PoK)

In the Barnala area, there is a base of Markaz Ahale Hadees outfit and it is a launch-pad.

5. Kotli (PoK)

It is the oldest base of Hizbul Mujahideen known as Markaz Raheel Shahid. It is used for storing weapons and explosives for terrorists.

6. Kotli (PoK)

At 2 km distance from the army base, this is a JeM base known as Markaz Abbas.

7. Sialkot (Punjab)

There is a launch-pad of Hizbul Mujahideen known as Mehmoona Joya near Kotli Bhatta Government Hospital. It used to be a terrorism control centre in Kathua. The conspiracy of Pathankot attack was hatched here.

8. Muzaffarabad (PoK)

There is a most important base of LeT in Sawai Nallah camp area engaged in recruitment of terrorists, registration, and training. The base has been in operation since 2000. Terrorists involved in Sonmarg, Gulmarg and Pahalgam attacks were trained here.

9. Muzaffarabad (PoK)

There is a LeT launch-pad known as Sayyadna Bilal used for infiltration in India. Training is held on the use of arms, explosives and surviving in forests.

There were bases of three terrorist outfits viz. JeM, LeT and HM. Indian army had information about a large number of terrorists staying here. India, therefore, properly planned strikes at those five places. No Pakistan civilian has been targeted in these attacks.

Pakistan retaliated by firing on borders

After India’s air strike, Pakistan retaliated by firing on LOC in Rajouri and Poonch districts. India has given an apt reply. It is stated that few Pakistani civilians were killed.

Scalp missiles launched through Rafale

It is reported that India used Rafale planes for this strike and Scalp missiles for accurate bombarding. These missiles are used for destroying underground bunkers. Rafale and other fighter planes targeted missiles  from Indian territory.

In the last ten years, 600 Indian soldiers sacrificed their lives !

More than 350 Indian citizens have fallen prey to terrorists’ attacks and more than 800 people have been injured. More than 600 soldiers lost their lives while protecting the country and more than 1400  men from security forces have been injured.

National Security Advisor of India, Ajit Doval contacted his counterparts in other countries after the attack and informed them about the surgical strikes including USA’s Marco Rubio, Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Britain, etc.

Why the strike was named as ‘Operation Sindoor’

This armed action was named ‘Operation Sindoor’. In the terrorists’ attack at Pahalgam, Islamic terrorists had targeted only husbands of Hindu married women and killed them thus removing their ‘Suhaga’. The air strike was, therefore, given a symbolic name as ‘Operation Sindoor (Kumkum)’.   

All schools and colleges in Islamabad are closed

All Government and private schools and colleges in Pakistan’s Capital viz Islamabad have been closed; but the Pakistan Government has stated that all examinations would be held as per the schedule. The incident will not affect the routine activities.
