Union Government’s advisory to media

New Delhi – The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Union Government has advised news channels in the country to avoid live broadcasting of Indian Army operations and security force movements. The government stated that such coverage could inadvertently aid the enemy.
In the advisory issued by the ministry, it was mentioned that in the interest of national security, all media outlets, news agencies, and social media users must act with utmost responsibility while reporting on matters related to defense and security developments. They must also strictly adhere to the existing laws and regulations.
Editorial PerspectiveWhy is such advice even necessary ? Why don’t media houses understand their responsibility ? If anyone violates this, a complete ban should be imposed on them and a case of treason should be filed ! |
